CrossFit Open 21.2

The second week of the CrossFit Open has come to a close. 21.2 was a repeat workout of 17.1. I did not participate in the 2017 CrossFit Open so 21.2 was my first time attacking this workout.

Others at my gym knew how this workout would feel. They recalled what their score was and tried to think back to how they felt. I looked on social media to get others reactions. It seemed like everyone said the same thing: this ones going to hurt.

CrossFit Open 21.2

10 Dumbbell Snatches 50 / 35 lb
15 Burpee Box Jump-Overs (24″/20″)
20 Dumbbell Snatches 50 / 35 lb
15 Burpee Box Jump-Overs (24″/20″)
30 Dumbbell Snatches 50 / 35 lb
15 Burpee Box Jump-Overs (24″/20″)
40 Dumbbell Snatches 50 / 35 lb
15 Burpee Box Jump-Overs (24″/20″)
50 Dumbbell Snatches 50 / 35 lb
15 Burpee Box Jump-Overs (24″/20″)

Time cap: 20 min.

I was so anxious going into this workout. I was more concerned about the snatches than the burpee box jump overs. Although the 35# dumbbell isnt heavy, its not light for me as it is for others. In training, Ive been working my way up to becoming proficient at 35#. I knew it would be in the Open in some way. I set the goal to finish but I would be happy if I got to the round of 50 snatches.

On Saturday, I entered the gym still full of nerves. I wanted to do well and wasn’t sure what would happen. I decided to go first to get it over with. I told my judge, Im going to sell my soul for 20 mins on this workout. I did just that.

My score was 202 (42 snatches out of the 50). I am very proud because thats the highest volume Ive done with a 35# dumbbell. As soon as the clock ran out, I collapsed on the floor for 5 minutes. Once I got myself together, I analyzed my performance. I didn’t rest as much and I kept a steady pace on all the burpee box jump overs. I probably could have finished all the snatches but my score is exactly what it should be.

One more week to go! I bet we will see thrusters and chest to bar pull up. Whatever it is, bring it on.

By the way, I hope everyone’s lower back aches are gone (:
