Today, I ran the Allstate Hot Chocolate race in Atlanta, GA with fellow Crossfitters. The race features both a 15k (9.3miles) and 5k (3.1miles) distance. Half of my group ran the 5K while the other half ran the 15K. We received an awesome goodie bag and finisher’s mugs filled with hot chocolate, chocolate fondue and tasty dippable treats! Make-A-Wish® is the official race charity of the Hot Chocolate race.
I choose to run the 5K. Yesterday, I completed Eva, a CrossFit ‘Nasty Girls’ WOD. Eva includes five 800m runs which means I ran approximately 6 miles this weekend. I am not an avid runner so running 3 miles straight was different. There were about 3 hills we faced. Those were the tough moments where I had to push through. I did a lot better than I anticipated. It wasn’t tough because I workout so often but it was a good workout. I kept an average pace of 10:31 per mile and finished in 32:39.
Next year, I will be doing the 15K and getting that cool medal. Those who ran the 5K did not get one. Today made me ready to start my mud runs for 2019. I like OCR’s better than races because the obstacles make the course more challenging.
Today was fun and I cant wait to do it again.
