The CrossFit Total is a way to test an athletes strength through the “three most effective lifts for developing and testing functional strength”. The movements in the CrossFit Total are back squat, shoulder press and deadlift.
Yesterday, I completed the CrossFit Total for the first time. I was able to see, yet again, how strong I am. I even got a personal record for my back squat and deadlift.
Back squat: My last 1RM was 105lbs. I was able to back squat 125lbs. That is 20lbs more than previously! I could have lifted heavier but I got mentally fatigued.
Shoulder press: My arms are weaker than my legs. My last 1RM was 65lbs. This lift stayed the same. I tried to lift 70lbs but I failed at that weight. Better luck next time.
Deadlift: I like deadlifts. My last 1RM was 150lbs. I was able to complete 160lbs. I know I can lift more than 160, but it became a mental blockage again. Next time will be better.
I am so proud of the small progression I have made and I cannot wait to get stronger.
Speaking of progress, I am slowly mastering my Double Unders! I was able to do them unbroken for an extended period in a WOD.
