My second competition has been completed. Last Sunday, my box hosted its first in house competition. There were a total of 8 teams. Teams were varied to be male-male, female- female and male-female. Everyone was judged the same for each WOD.
My partner and I were Team Barbell Bosses. We are fairly similar in fitness level which is why we think we made a good team. After the first WOD, we were in 2nd place. After the second WOD, we were in 3rd place. We finished the competition in 4th place. We realized the areas we need to work on and how to get better for next time.
WOD 1:
6 rounds total (3 each person), 12 minute cap
60 Double Under or 120 Single Under
30 American Kettlebell Swings @35lbs
15 synchronized burpees
I think this was my least favorite WOD. The kettlebell swings were the worst. 35 lbs is not heavy but doing it 90 times can become a lot. In the second round, I did 2 sets of 15. In the 3rd round, I did 3 sets of 10. The burpees were not too bad for me. I paced myself and started focusing on finishing each round. We finished in a time of about 11 minutes.
WOD 2:
6 rounds total (3 each person), 6 minute cap
3 Hang Squat Cleans
6 HSPU or 16 HRPU
My weight for the cleans were 65lbs, 70lbs, 75lbs. I should have cleaned 80 or 85 because 65 felt light for me. I was able to do the first 16 HRPU unbroken but they became taxing for the 2nd and 3rd round. Our time for this WOD was about 5:30.
WOD 3:
10 minute AM RAP, 2-4-6-8-10…
wall balls 14lbs
synchronized box jumps
This WOD was a surprise for the day of. The wall balls got me on this one. I am still getting used to using a 14 lb wall ball. I constantly got no-repped because the wall ball did not touch the target. I need to work on throwing it toward the target and not straight up. We were able to fly through the box jumps. (I fell on the box and got a nasty cut). We got 12 rounds.
This was a fun competition. I was amazed to see how far I have truly come since the first time I competed. It makes me want to push harder and keep working towards my goal. I cannot wait for the next competition. Thank you TFR for hosting and I cannot wait for the next one.
