Memorial Day Murph

img_2195On Memorial Day, most people in the crossfit world are gearing up to complete Murph. It is a WOD in honor of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, 29, who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005.

1 Mile Run
100 Pull-ups
200 Push-ups
300 Squats
1 Mile Run
(with a weighted vest if RX)
I was very greatful for the weather we had. It was a little wet and cool. But that’s so much better than being hot and sticky. To effectively complete this WOD, I broke up the middle and did 10 rounds of Cindy doubled. So, 10 pull-ups, 20 push-ups, 30 squats. My time was 62:15. This was the first time I have done Murph. I skipped last year because I had a competition coming up. I must say, I think I did well today.
I am slowly getting better at my pull-ups. I decided to use a red band today. I could have done about half unassisted but I didn’t want to burn out. There will be no bands in sight for me next year. Maybe I will even complete it with a vest…
